We are looking for a few good facilities that can be used as learning laboratories during The TPM Experience conference. Serving as a gemba site brings valuable benefits. If you are within about a half hour drive of downtown Baltimore, your facility could be a perfect match.
What is a Gemba Activity?
Gemba activities are hands-on learning sessions that allow event attendees to take TPM techniques from classroom theory to practical application. During the gemba activities, conference attendees work in pre-designated areas under the guidance of Productivity’s world-class lean and TPM experts, using TPM techniques such as Autonomous Maintenance, Maintenance Improvement, 5S, Gemba Walks, Changeover, Mistake Proofing, Quality Maintenance, and more.
What’s in it for me?
Hosting activities in your facility is an effective way to gain insight from your peers. Activity leaders and participants will be looking at your facility with ‘fresh’ eyes…this often leads to breakthrough ideas that your associates alone may not have discovered.
In addition to receiving valuable feedback and improvement suggestions, you will receive three complimentary passes to The TPM Experience conference –valued at $7,500. The complimentary conference registrations include three Kindle Touch e-readers, loaded with presentations and supplementary material from the event. Gemba Activity Host requirements:
Your facility could be a candidate if you…
- Are located within about a half-hour drive of downtown Baltimore, Maryland
- Have at least 50 employees
- Have some experience with implementing lean
- Use equipment in your processes
- Have good management/associate relationships in place
- Can make an area available to a group of 10-20 TPM conference attendees for an improvement activity and/or tour from approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20, 2012
- Are willing to brief associates in the areas to be studied on the activities to be conducted
- Are willing to shut down processes to be studied should it be necessary
- A brief description of your products, services, and processes
- Number of employees
- List of competitors you would not want to participate in the activities at your facility
All submissions will be reviewed by our conference committee, and prospective gemba sites selected will be notified.
